Qld: Aborigines march in Brisbane for lost wages
About 250 angry protesters have stormed through central Brisbane demanding a fair dealfor decades of unpaid work by Aborigines.
Palm Island councillor ALFRED LACEY says the protesters were marching for their ancestorswho provided the muscle which launched Australia's pastoral industry.
He says these people worked hard all their lives and were never paid for it.
The federal government has offered $4000 to Aboriginal families for a lifetime of anAboriginal elder's work, and the protesters say this is insulting.
Mr LACEY says the protest wasn't about the money, it was about respect and a fair go.
