America Movil To Launch Palm Internet Access.

MEXICO CITY, Apr 5, 2001

Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) mobile spin-off America Movil over the next several months will launch a range of new services including additional mobile Internet features, according to a report in Mexican financial daily El Economista. America Movil executive Humberto Chavez Lopez said Telcel, as the company is known in Mexico, would introduce Palm Internet access in two months' time. Chavez said Telcel also would broaden the gamut of mobile Internet services available to its clients. Currently Telcel offers mobile Internet online shopping, news, e-mail and limited banking services. "These services are going to continue growing. We're going to go deeper in terms of information, where the user will have more news and higher quality banking services," he said. Chavez said there was no deadline for the introduction of new and improved mobile Internet services. He said the process would be incremental over the next several months.
