There will always be people like Charles Dickens' Scrooge who see Christmas as an opportunity
to make money, the Age says in its editorial today.

"And there will always be Herods, prepared to commit any atrocity, even the mass slaughter
of children, in order to eliminate possible rivals to their own authority," it says.

"But none of these things is a reason not to celebrate.

"They are reasons to find those occasions of transformation that allow us to see what
the Scrooges and Herods have chosen not to see."
